🏏 Cricket Bat Warranty Policy

At ABSPORTSGEAR.COM, we want every customer to get the best performance and lifespan from their cricket bat.

Cricket bats are handcrafted from natural willow — a living material that is unique in every bat. Because willow is natural, every bat will wear differently depending on usage, preparation, maintenance, and playing conditions. As a result, no cricket bat can be guaranteed against normal wear and tear.

Understanding Cricket Bats

Every bat is unique — no two bats perform exactly the same.
Over time, all bats will develop signs of use.
Cracks, seam marks, dents, and surface wear are a normal part of bat usage.
Even a perfect strike gradually changes the structure of willow fibres.

Normal Wear & Tear

The following are considered normal characteristics of a cricket bat during its lifespan and do not indicate a manufacturing defect:

Surface cracks on the face
Seam marks
Minor dents
Edge wear
Toe wear
Scuffing
Cosmetic marks from ball impact

Common Causes of Bat Damage

Cricket bats may become damaged due to: insufficient knocking-in, failure to properly prepare the bat, lack of toe protection, moisture exposure, use of poor-quality cricket balls, mis-hits on the edge or toe, excessive use against bowling machines, improper storage conditions, or impact damage during play.

To maximize bat lifespan, proper care and maintenance are essential.

Bat Preparation Requirements

All cricket bats should be properly prepared before match use. Preparation includes:

🪵 Oiling

  • Maintains moisture balance
  • Reduces dryness
  • Conditions willow fibres
  • Improves durability

Excessive oiling should be avoided.

🔨 Knocking-In

  • Compresses surface fibres
  • Reduces risk of early cracking
  • Improves bat readiness for match play

Knocking-in reduces risk but cannot completely prevent cracks or damage.

🛡️ Anti-Scuff Protection

  • Additional face protection
  • Reduced surface cracking
  • Improved moisture retention
  • Extended bat lifespan

We strongly recommend applying an anti-scuff sheet and edge protection.

Handle Information

Cricket bat handles are considered a consumable component. Over time, handles may loosen, soften, or require replacement due to regular use. A damaged or worn handle does not automatically indicate a defective cricket bat and may not qualify for warranty replacement.
